How we help you help others. "The Circle of Gifts"

Yesterday, I had the sweetest conversation with my daughter.  (By the way, if a cake does not pass her approval, it does not go out until it does).  She is my toughest critic, but her intentions are awesome.  Yep, that's her on the horse.  She is going into her 3rd year of her high school years and will probably spend her 4th year in college.  I'm blessed because she is the most mature, Christian, beautiful girl in "my world".  She inherited my love to help those less fortunate, by  no fault of their own.  We spent 3 hours talking yesterday about the God given Gifts we were born with.  It is within us, to want to bless those we can.

During our conversation, she pointed out one of my "Gifts".  The gift to give unconditionally.  To give to see someone happy.  To sacrifice in order to bless someone with a moment of happiness.  She also helped me to understand and gain knowledge on why I am completely okay with filling cake, cookie, cupcake orders with making enough profit to simply donate out.  I don't have to feel frustrated anymore because I'm confused on why I work so hard for no monetary gain.  Because it is not a monetary gain...my gain is the smile and happiness I bring to someone with what talent I have....to turn around to help those...people and animals less fortunate.  Because everyone deserves a small piece of happiness.

I recently had someone come to me that could not afford a cake.  Stop!  Please don't judge.  There is a very heartfelt story behind this.  A very special cake for a special occasion.  For reasons I cannot divulge.  I've never attempted a cake like this on my own.  My daughter looked at me last night and surprisingly cheered me on to say "You CAN do this Mom.  Even if it is not up to the perfection I want it to be...most importantly is that I try.  My reward on a large Wedding Cake that I have never attempted and will be donating????  The peace of mind, the smile.

It's not all about me!  I have been admiring work of a not so local cake artist that has met some really awesome people.  Her time is valuable.  Her work is valuable.  She takes the time that she undoubtedly does not have, to answer all my messages.  I've recently been down lately with an extracted tooth.  She mentioned on facebook that she had a little something special on the way to me in the mail.  She INSISTED it was a SMALL package and not to get my hopes up because it was just a little something.  When the package came, my daughter brought it to me and despite the pain in my jaw, I just blew up with excitement.  I ripped the package open with my car keys!!!  There, was a large slice of her vanilla and a large slice of her chocolate cake, along with 2 samples of her own Buttercream and Italian Buttercream.  She considered that SMALL?????  If I could only help her to understand that before I opened the package, she nearly had me in tears.  No one aside from my best friend "Sandy" outside of my family has done something for me like this.  I shared the cake with my daughter while we watched a documentary on t.v. and all I could do is sit back and Pray that this wonderful person will be blessed many many times over and over with her business and her life in general....for she has a gift in her as well...and it is much more then her talent with confection.  Cindy Patrick of  http://www.enticingicings.com  Hopefully, she will not mind me posting an awesome piece of her talent to share on my blog.
