My "friendship" with Cindy has given me the courage to take on some challenges of my own. Cindy has this wonderful God Given Talent which puts her right up there with some really awesome celebrities (in my opinion), and what is different about Cindy of Enticing Icings is that she has always been here, for me, at my side through some of my most challenging cake designs, client/business owner communication, secret recipes (I shall not disclose :)..), and most importantly, a warm heart.
With Cindy so far North of me (approx 2 1/2 hours), I do not have the luxury of ordering a cake from her to try out her awesome flavors. She did, however send me a box of goodies which included a very thick slice of chocolate cake and white cake, a generous serving of her very on Buttercream and Italian Buttercream. I thought it was Christmas. I ripped that package open and my daughter and I savored each moment while tasting the cake with and without the awesome frostings.
I will be posting more and more about Cindy's awesome work...but first, let me show you my very first wedding cake that she continued to encourage me on every step of the way. Designed by the bride - it was a very simple cake - simple to the eyes of the guest (who by the way had so so many kind words to say about the flavor and the presentation), but the structure of the cake was my very first. Although I studied more about an easier way to construct this cake, I visualize so many changes I could have made.
Then, there was the almighty "my very own recipe" of fondant. It might have been 12:30 a.m. or later when I frantically messaged Cindy about a "feeling" I had about my instructions on storing fondant. Yes, she was correct! The outcome to the left. Oh my, those sugar lilies is a whole blog of it's own.
So, in closing, it's much easier to work with someone one on one and to be open to a decorators ideas. Because what you see might be beautiful, but the construction of the cake + humidity/weather all play a major factor in cake decorating.
